Join Audubon Great Lakes for a Chicago Water Week event: Wetlands Wonder Spring Migration Bird Walk at Indiana Ridge Marsh
Friday, May 8 | 7:30 AM CT at Indian Ridge Marsh
Join Audubon Great Lakes for a spring migration bird walk during Chicago Water Week at Indian Ridge Marsh in the Calumet region—one of the most important stopover habitats for birds traveling along the Great Lakes flyway. Led by Audubon Great Lakes Senior Associate of Stewardship Kayla Lindsey-Fisher, this guided walk will explore how wetlands serve as critical “rest stops” for migratory birds, providing food, shelter, and protection during their long journeys.
Participants will also learn how wetlands function as vital freshwater infrastructure—improving water quality, reducing flooding, and supporting diverse wildlife. Experience the sights and sounds of spring migration while gaining a deeper understanding of how restoring and protecting places like Indian Ridge Marsh benefits both birds and communities.
