Event Overview
Marine debris remains one of the most persistent challenges facing Lake Michigan and the Chicago Area Waterway System. This panel brings together researchers and practitioners working on the front lines of debris monitoring and removal to explore innovative approaches that are transforming how we understand and address litter in our waterways.
Join experts from Loyola University, the Chicago Park District, and Chicago Harbors as they discuss how community partnerships, field research, and data-driven strategies are uncovering the pathways of urban litter to reduce marine debris. Panelists will share lessons learned, next steps for marine debris reduction, and how regional collaboration is advancing a cleaner, more resilient Lake Michigan and Chicago Area Waterway System.
