Liquid Assets: The Stories Shaping Water Justice in Chicago – Sierra Club & Chicago News Weekly

Wednesday, May 6 | 10:00 AM CDT

As part of Chicago Water Week, Sierra Club Illinois Chapter and Chicago News Weekly invite you to Liquid Assets: The Stories Shaping Water Justice in Chicago, a virtual panel discussing how water issues are reported, framed, and understood across the city.

As climate change intensifies pressures on water access, quality, and infrastructure, the role of media becomes increasingly important. This conversation will examine who is telling these stories, how they are told, and what perspectives are too often left out and how stronger storytelling can drive more equitable water solutions.

Join panelists Atiba Buchanan (Program Manager & Radio Host | WVON 1690), Kai El’Zabar (Editor in Chief | Chicago News Weekly), moderated by Dr. Mila Marshall, Clean Water Advocate, Sierra Club Illinois Chapter.

Grounded in equity and environmental justice, this discussion is designed for journalists, advocates, policymakers, and community members committed to ensuring safe, accessible water for all.
