Presented by James Duncker, this event has several fronts. The USGS is integrating water science programs to address the nation’s water challenges. They plan to study at least 10 Integrated Water Science (IWS) basins, representing various environmental settings and stressors, over the next decade. The Next Generation Water Observing System (NGWOS) will provide real-time data on water quantity, quality, and use to support water prediction and decision-making, with a focus on systems like the Illinois River Basin, affected by nutrient overabundance and harmful algal blooms.
