Event Overview
For generations, the Chicago region has relied on Lake Michigan to sustain our communities with safe, clean drinking water, support economic growth, and shape our identity. But abundance alone does not guarantee long-term security. Aging infrastructure, growing industrial demand, and communities turning to Lake Michigan as groundwater supplies decline are raising the stakes for how the region manages and coordinates its water systems.
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) will lead a panel discussion exploring how northeastern Illinois can turn Great Lakes water abundance into a durable regional advantage through thoughtful stewardship, modern infrastructure, and stronger coordination across the institutions that manage our water systems.
