Join Audubon Great Lakes for a Spring Migration Bird Walk at Powderhorn Lake!
Wednesday, May 7 | 9:00 AM CT
Burnham, IL
Celebrate spring migration with Audubon Great Lakes and the Forest Preserves of Cook County during a special morning bird walk at Powderhorn Lake, one of the most biodiverse natural areas in the City of Chicago. This guided walk offers a unique opportunity to experience peak spring migration and spot a variety of colorful warblers, thrushes, and secretive marsh birds like the Sora and Pied-billed Grebe as they stop to rest and refuel in this vital habitat.
The walk will be led by bird and habitat experts who have helped shape the recent 100-acre wetland restoration at Powderhorn Lake, a three-year effort in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County and partners. Along the way, participants will learn about the rare dune and swale and hemimarsh habitats that make this site such a hotspot for migratory birds, fish and local wildlife.
