Event Overview
Advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) have tremendous potential to transform water research, development, and translation (RD&T) efforts in fields such as sensing, treatment, infrastructure, and resource recovery. This virtual workshop held during Chicago Water Week will convene leading experts in water science, data science, engineering, and industry to discuss emerging opportunities where AI-enabled approaches — including physics-informed machine learning, autonomous experimentation, and digital twins — can accelerate water materials and device discovery, optimize water processes and systems, and improve the resilience of water infrastructure.
Through talks and a moderated panel discussion, attendees will learn about key scientific and technological barriers, data and cyber-infrastructure needs, and opportunities for cross-sector collaboration, as well as how these priority research directions and actionable strategies to integrate AI/ML into the water innovation ecosystem can advance a more secure and intelligent water future.
